All illustrations were designed in-house at Quip. It was a fun experience bringing them to motion. The avatar animations were meant to live on the QuipCare page side by side, so their loop points had to be synced.
I was tasked with texturing, lighting, animating and compositing all 3D product shots in this commercial for quip.
I was tasked with creating a Desert Gold intro animation for the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team at NBC Sports. A big inspiration for this was the neon boneyard in Las Vegas. I created the design comps, custom type, sword 3D modeling, animatics, lighting & texturing, rendering and compositing in after effects.
Collaborating with an in-house designer, I was tasked with creating storyboards and animations of a the Quip Floss release video. The video is meant to express the idea of including the floss in your daily good habits along with the rest of the Quip products. After many iterations and revisions the final piece came together quite coherently all in time for the release. In addition to the 1x1 IG feed version I created a 16x9 version for IG Stories.
These are early exploration comps I created for CSN Open at NBC Sports. These didn’t make it to the final but they helped establish the minimal futuristic look.
I was in charge of animation and design for the Quip Water Flosser How-to videos. I retouched and color corrected the photography used for the stop motion look. The development of the videos required a fair amount of post production work such as background replacement, scene extension and frame-to-frame matching. The Water Flosser How-tos relied on 2D animation a lot more than other instructional videos at Quip. The water flossing sequence in How-to Use was especially fun and challenging to figure out. It had to be consistent with Quip’s 2D illustration look. Many iterations were explored before we arrived at this final look.
The following are ice frost and triangle mosaic text transitions that I designed and animated at NBC Sports. I then created a tool kit for easy versioning and handed it over to our team on site in Korea. The animation elements were then used in the Primetime 2018 Olympics Open which aired on NBCSN.
These gifs were designed in-house at Quip. I was tasked with animating them, though there are a several I concepted from start to finish. They’re available as GIPHY stickers on IG Stories.
I was in charge of creating all 2D & 3D animations for the quip Target Aligners Endcap video. The video intentionally has no music or sfx because it is meant to be played on a constant seamless loop in retail. This project was a close collaboration between quip and Mosspark who captured, edited and color corrected the footage.
At NBC Sports, I was tasked with creating 2D animations of the Wednesday Night Hockey logo, stacked and horizontal. I was also responsible for the animation of text transitions and widget animations used to further unify the overall look of the broadcast package. The logo animations and widget elements are used in full screen transitions, lower thirds, score bars and all throughout the WNH package.
I worked on four emoji designs at quip. I modeled, textured and rendered them in C4D. These concepts were submitted for approval. After many revisions the brush emoji was accepted.
I was tasked with editing the footage for the Quip Floss How-to-Refill and How-to-Use videos in Premiere. I created all the animated elements throughout the videos, as well as compositing, some music editing and color correction for the final exports.
I was tasked with creating CSN Bay Area and east coast IDs at NBC Sports with the RSN department. I worked alongside two other in-house animation designers. There were a lot of internal discussions around landmarks for each city, filming on location vs 3D, camera animation and general art direction. Ultimately we went the 3D route for time’s sake. My contributions included – animatics, environment detail modeling, texturing and lighting, rendering and compositing. Philly, SJ, SF and Oakland are my favorite four. They each presented unique challenges we had to overcame, with satisfying end results.
